At the Switching Post
Workers commit to the same three hour shift every week. Duties vary, and can include selling merchandise, cashiering, answering phones, addressing envelopes,
entering data, unpacking and sorting donations, cleaning and polishing donated items, and keeping the shop tidy and clean.
Some may work at home or off-site: marketing, picking up small donations, soliciting furniture donations, repairing furniture, polishing silver, or washing and ironing linens.
Sometimes a team will work at a donor’s home, packing small household items for later pick-up by our movers.
…& Empty Outs
Estate Services volunteers work on an as-needed basis at off-site locations: sorting, packing, labeling and distributing items during the Empty-out itself,
or marketing our services to potential clients.
